Hi,

I live in an average 2 bed semi so our living room is about is probably about 19ft at the longest point by 15 ft. i sit about 12ft from the TV.

As we only have a small living room I was thinking of getting a Sound Bar. can anyone reccomend one? I was chatting to someone at the pub who said one of the yamaha' sound bars have really good surround sound and he was blown away by it. said it sounded like it was coming from behind him and all over the place etc.

my set-up is

Sony KDL40W4500

Apple TV

Blu Ray

SKY HD & a Xbox 360

what you guys & think?

Check out the Yamaha YSP-600. You should be able to get one for £300. I've got an almost identical model (now discontinued) and they're pretty impressive. You can also get at separate sub to go with it, which plugs straight into the back.

In response to your original question...

NO I cannot recommend a sound bar. For home cinema sound you need surround speakers. That said I'm sure sound bars sound better than the built in speakers in TVs!

I was thinking about that MA bar.

Does one need a HC amp with one or will a stereo amp do?

Well it houses 3 speakers. Left, Centre and Right. Therefore to get the most out of it it would need to be used with a HC amp.

Otherwise you could use it with a stereo amp but the centre channel would be redundant.
