Can you now get wireless headphones sounding as good as wired headphones ?

As far as the background noise levels go yes I think you can get some now that are very good at this. Wireless headphones will always be stuck at a lower quality level than wired ones though. This is even more true if the wired headphones are plugged into a good sourse and amplifier because squeezing that power and processing into the headphone's ear cups is not good, that space is needed for other things.

The wireless functionality tends to degrade the sound a lot in headphones, so you're always compromising a fair bit for convenience. The 'wireless' element makes up a big chunk of the price tag too. But there are obviously wireless headphones that are superior to wired ones in some instances, but it's all cost related. For example, a £200 pair of good wireless headphones are more than likely to be better than wired ones, for eg, less than £50.

If you're set on having a wireless pair though, we do like the Philips M1BTs (reviewed here: http://www.whathifi.com/review/philips-m1bt) But ultimately, wired headphones offer far better sound in general. 🙂

Out of interest, do you really want that underscore in your username? It is making me come over all OCD.

Makes me (as a software developer) feel quite at home 🙂
