Hi All,

Are Wharfdale diamond 9.1s good for wall mounting ? As I am planning to mount them 1 feet away from the back wall and 1.6 feet away from side wall and toeing at a 30 degree angle. Will that work ?

They can be wall mounted:

Thanks for the suggestion. But I want to mount them from the ceiling(1 feet from the back wall and 1.6 feet from side wall) rather on the walls so as to avoid any extra bass due to close back wall and side wall. What do you say ? Isn't the ceiling mounting better way to go ? Thanks for all the help.

Well you specifically asked for an opinion on wall mounting them, not hanging them from the ceiling.

I have not personally heard such a set-up in a domestic environment but I have read of others elsewhere who have gone down this route with excellent results, which makes sense to me as they are going to benefit from total isolation. Have you got as far as planning on how you're going to do this? I was going to install a pair of B-Tech BT77 wall-mounts today but this has now got me thinking....

Edit: Is this for your cafe set-up? I wouldn't look at anything less than professional installation if so, because should they fall and injure someone you could end up with some pretty serious personal liabilties.

Well in my question I just wanted to know if they can be mounted either on walls (which was my first plan) or from ceiling (which i later realized will give me a better flexibility in placing them and ward off bass relection from the walls as Wharfdale tend to be on the warmer side, if i am not wrong). Yes I am thinking of installing them in a cafe but they will be close to wall and atleast 5 feet away from sitting area. So I guess if they are installed in a good quality mount bracket it won't be a problem. For the ceiling option I was looking for omni mount ceiling mount. They can carry a weight upto 9 kg and Wharfdale are 5.5 kg. Below is the link. Let me know what do u think ?

Think I'd got myself going off on cross purposes here. I was reminding myself of people suspending speakers from the ceiling with a wire arrangement rather than using an actual mount.

If memory serves me correctly the Diamonds prefer a bit of space at the rear but having never heard them mounted this way I really can't comment on how they might actually sound. And although it looks a fairly straightforward installation job a couple of screws holding the clamp to the ceiling doesn’t look too secure to my eyes. I’m sure they would be fine, though, as I'm sure they wouldn’t be allowed to sell them if they kept falling down! (Sidenote: Can’t fix up my wall mounts as the brick is un-drillable *grrr*)

I am kind of tempted but this is 50+ year old solid brick where I gather they threw anything in to the mix. I'm an occasional D-I-Y-er, not a construction worker! lol. Thanks for the tip, though.
