Presumably you're looking at these two systems (identical other than the style of speaker employed) so you can get HD audio from a bluray player (via LPCM over HMDI) e.g. PS3. They're probably the cheapest option to achieve this and have been well received by owners. The downside is that they can't be upgraded so if you fancied new speakers or a new receiver in the future, you would need to sell it on as one but in the end, they're no used to anyone on their own anyway. The next cheapest alternative is the Sony HT-DDGW800 which is based around a Sony 620 receiver IIRC (which isn't available in the UK) and some speakers. It has the added advantage in that you could upgrade the speakers later. Unfortunately the speakers that ship with this package aren't the nicest looking. After that you're looking at separates more considerably more money for the next model up in Sony's range that can handle LPCM. There are some cracking deals on separate amps at the minute, i.e. Yamaha 763, Sony 820. Add a set of cheap Mordaunt Short or Jamo HCS5 A102 speakers and away you go.
