Having just hooked up my Sky+ to my new Marantz SR7002, can I confirm that almost all channels are stereo sound (2 ch PCM on my Marantz).

I only get full 5.1 surround on the movie channels.

Is that right or so I have a setup issue ?

Thanks.

That's about right, the footie on Sky HD is in 5.1. You can of course get your receiver to play it in Pro Logic or similar if you want a sort of surround sound.

Hi, you are completely right - only the movies are 5.1 at present.

Think HD is a different matter though...

*edit* didn't know about the footie - not a sports man myself...

The Football is only 5.1 on HD broadcasts as Gerard has pointed out and not on the non HD Sky box. AFAIK only Movies are in 5.1 on the normal box.

If You want a higher amount of programing in 5.1 then upgrade to a HD box as 90% of HD broadcasts are in 5.1.

Apart from BBC HD ones, which veer wildly between sonic formats!

Exactly why I said 90% Clare. BBC HD is a rule onto itself a often fails to follow any understandible patern with regards to 5.1 support. Last of Summer Wine 5.1, Kill Bill in 2.0. go figure!

That's hilarious DJ! How many times do you think Kill Bill and Last of the Summer Wine have been mentioned together on these pages!!!!!!!

You're probably onto something - a Tarentino-directed episode of LOTSW would be great. Lucy Liu to play Auntie Wainwright, anyone?

Hi,

Anything's possible - Tarantino directed an episode of E.R. in the good ole U.S. of A.

Glenn Close as Nora Batty?

Cheers,

Cofnchtr.
