Hello all

I am new to theis forum.

I have a question about my Linn Intek. I use it with Linn Index speakers. Its fine but maybe lacks a bit of bass and breadth in the sound stage.

I am wondering if I could biamp with a LK 140 for example.

Another option I was considering was a 2nd hand Arcam Alpha 10/10p system.

Any suggestions would be welcome and also technical info about how I actually do the Biamping.

Thanks

jamie

Yes, you can connect a power amp to the intek's preamp output sockets, and use that to biamp the Index speakers. The obvious partner is a Linn Powertek such as this one, but I would think any Linn power amp of similar power would be suitable - you'd just need to check with a Linn dealer how the gain matches up between your Intek and the power amp you want to use.

Then it's just a matter of running interconnects from the Intek's preouts to the inputs on the power amp, removing the jumper bars from your speakers terminals, and running separate runs of cable from the Intek to the treble inputs on each speaker, and from the power amp to the bass inputs.

Hi andrew

Thanks for that answer, very clear. i will look in to this. In your opinion would this be worth doing in terms of better quality of sound?

Very long time since I heard any of that old Linn equipment, but in general the Linn speakers responded well to biamping, so if you could track down a suitable power amp for <£200, I doubt you could do anything else to the system for that little money likely to bring any greater benefits.

Yes I guess that is the case. I suppose it is old equipment. However its working pretty well and I dont have the money to upgrade to a new system. Though I would love to.

Thanks jamie
