Hi, I bought the CA One a couple of weeks ago on a recommendation from RS staff after intially looking at the Denon DM39, Pioneer XCHM51DAB or similar.
I was initially very impressed. The One produces a lovely rich sound for this type of system with enough controlled power for most likely uses. It looks nice and the speakers that come with it aren't too shabby (esp as they're "free"), but I think better speakers would probably do the system more justice, although I didnt have it long enough to run the speakers in to be fair. Yes, I took it back!
The reason I didn't keep it is because gaps are inserted between tracks on CDs when theres not supposed to be a gap, which is annoying. Aparently its the way they're made and there's no way of changing it with a firmware update. If that wouldnt be an issue for you then I'd say go for it. It really does sound nice.
Before I completely decided to return it, I did a brief demo in the listening room in RS, comparing it with the Pioneer and a Marantz MCR610 (as I was starting to lean towards the 610 instead after reading the reviews). To me, the One sounded much better than the Pioneer and probably just pipped the 610 (to my ears anyway), although I've ended up with a Marantz and don't regret it. Lovin' the connectivity options, esp internet radio, which is something I wasn't initially bothered about. The 610 can be had for around £300 now too.
Hope this helps anyway.
