Hi,

I have just purchased an Onkyo TX-SR607 amp and a set of Q Acoustics 1010i 5.1 speakers.

What speaker and subwoofer cable would you guys suggest I use? I keep reading that 'high quality' expensive cable isn't worth the outlay.

Any help/suggestions greatly appreciated, thanks!

Paul.

With a decent setup like that i would go for some Qed Xt for fronts and mirco for rears and also a Qed sub cable, ive got terminated ends which are done instore, so if going this way make sure you get the right lengths because you can't remove the plugs. Try to get a little bit extra cable but no more than you realy need, also bannana plugs you screw on yourself or solder are ok. if you decide that you only need them on one end use that for the amp makes it tidy and lees chance of short circuiting the amp when wires touch. Some people say that you won't notice any improvements using plugs, just makes it easier and you always get good connection and no frayed and twisted ends. If you find this works out too expensive try Play.com or Amazon they always sell some decent cables although i haven't tryed them. Hope this helps.

is it also correct that i should get the speaker cable done in equal lengths, ie both front speaker cables same length, both rear cables same length or is that an old wives/salesmans tale?

I have just purchased denon 2310 and kef 3005se spoeakers - shop suggested qed originals as qes silver anniversary xt can sound a bit bright

this seems to contradict what hifi reviews what cables woudl they suggest

alos if there much difference between qed originals, qed mico or qed silver micro ?
