I had a few instances where i lost signal or very low volume from 1 speaker shortly after powering up which is usually resolved by dropping the volume down and up.

I also got distinct crackle on the speakers when playing vinyl which is a new symptom. based on the symptoms what is the recommended approach, repair or replace and if the former anyone have experience with Richer Sounds repair service and cost?

Hi,

My amplifier when turned on seems to have the right channel much lower volume than the left, so I select the inputs rapidly which switches the relays, and also the Tape Mon on and off, and this seems to clear it. My symptoms seem to be a relay contacts problem. Never sent back to CA or Richer Sounds.

Regards,

Shadders.

Check the switches. If playing with them brings the sound back get some Servisol, open the top and squirt them. It's a permanent fix usually.

No, a swatch apparently is a small piece of fabric used to demonstrate how a larger piece would look.

A gobbled together bunch of twigs to threaten children with?! This is just absurd. And there is no prize, however if there was I would have to present it you being the only entrant, so well done.

Made me laugh too *biggrin*

Picked up the contact cleaner from Maplin and got round to using it yesterday. Tripped up at the first hurdle after disconnecting everying and finding i needed a 1.3mm hex key to open the case! A chance find in Clas Ohlson they had a kit which goes down to 0.7mm hex keys plus various others.

I air dusted the case, used the contact cleaner on all the interior dial connections and cleaned up any residue with IPA (not Greene King) and a cotton bud.

Much improved, partilcularly at very low volumes, thanks to all for the advise.
