Hi there, well im going to buy hifi for first time and im a bit confused.

I will buy pro-ject carbon 2M for sure and i want to spend like 600 euros more for amp and speakers.

Well i read reviews and all these about matching etc and :wall: haha

ok lets go..

speakers Q-acoustics 2020i,Dali Zensor 1 whats is better for rock mostly old punk, garage rock and a bit of metal etc music and what about matching?

warm amp and bright speakers like NAD+ zensor or a bright amp and a 2020i set? is 2020i really warm?

Also im going to listen all day long,so i want the sound to be balanced no harsh or too warm.

Maybe i wanting too much,i dunno.

Sorry for my bad english

I hesitate to say this but I always get a bit confused when people ask what type of system is best for a partcular type of music, and when people describe components as "warm" or "bright".

To me, the ultimate goal is to get perfect fidelity, in other words, for the system to accurately portray the sound as it was recorded; surely this is the definition of pure HiFi.

Saying that a system is good for a particular type of music, or that a component is "bright" or "warm" implies that the system is altering the sound in some way, or degrading the fidelity of the sound.

On a more helpful note, I have recently purchased a Marantz M-CR603 and a pair of Monitor Audio BX2's, and the resulting sound is excellent, whether it is Rush, Metallica, or something a bit calmer like the XX or KT Tunstall's acoustic Scarlet Tulip EP (as if she were in the room). This is in a large room (6x5m); if it were smaller I would have gone for the Dali Zensor 1's. Either system would be possible within your budget if you were to shop around. :)

Edit - the M-CR603 doesn't have a phono input so you would need to get the version of the Pro-ject Carbon that has the built in phono amp.

thnx for the reply but i have to disagree. There is no perfect fidelity and i dont think there is equipment with neutral sound. If there are neutral sound systems all will go for these!

So we have to go with warm dark bright etc. also BX2 is a little harsh in high freq. as zensor and i think for better hmm balance to go to a "warm" sound NAD or the opposite with q acoustics and bright amp.

I would agree that there is no such thing as perfect fidelity, although some amps will come very close (this can be measured). But it is the ultimate goal to be strived for, like absolute zero or speed of light travel.

I don't find the BX2s harsh at all; accurate is how I would describe them; and I'm absolutely delighted with them. But that is what keeps this forum interesting; so many opinions!

Ultimate neutrality is not necessarily something everybody strive for, you know.

I had a budget NAD amp a few years ago and it was great for rock'n'roll. I'll happily recommend that.

I'm sure it isn't; each to their own.

i would also second the recommendation for the marantz cr 603. not only does it sound great with just about all types of music but for less than the price of decent budget amp you get a complete system with streaming dab fm am enough inputs to add other sources its just a great system.
