I've narrowed down my search for a new set of mid range home cinema speakers to the BOSE Acoustimass 10 Serie IV based on the following criteria:

- Compact Size, as small as possible (invisible would be better according to my wife).

- Style, modern and as simple looking as possible (again, according to my wife).

- Wall corner / ceiling mountable (for child damage limitation reasons).

- Budget £900 (Swiss Francs 1400)

- Performance (suitable for a living room 40sqm)

- I live in Switzerland and am 'limited' to the brands / manufacturers listed below from my favourite supplier www.digitec.ch.

Any alternatives on the market (from the list below), which fit the above criteria better than the Bose? (I've already decided on the Onkyo TX-SR608 Amp).

Audio Pro, Bose, Canton, Denon, Elac, Grundig, Harman/Kardon, Heco, Infinity, Jamo, JBL, KEF, Klipsch, Magnat, Marmitek, Mirage, Monitor Audio, Onkyo, Pioneer, Quadral, Tangent, Vivanco, Wharfedale, Yamaha.

Thanks for the quick feedback bigboss.

1) Monitor Audio R90HD10 - my bigboss (wife) will rule the first one based on size!

2) KEF KHT 3005SE - love it, not sure about wall ceiling mounting these (out of child destruction zone)???

I may have to arrange a trip back to the UK for a demo (I used to shop at Sound and Vison in Bolton), I'll check first with a local retailer here in Switzerland.

The speakers are smaller than the KEFs, & they look gorgeous. Check them out in flesh.

You can easily wall mount them.

You will struggle to find speakers as small as Bose to perform as good as Bose. If size is your main consideration, then go for the Bose. Otherwise, there are better options available. Why don't you take your wife with you to demo all options? You both can decide which is best for you.

Try the Mission m-cube if size is your main concern, i had the chance to demo the m-cubes, the Bose am10 and am15 and the m-cubes came out to be the better sounding package,

But the OP (as per his first post) is restricted to the following brands:

Audio Pro, Bose, Canton, Denon, Elac, Grundig, Harman/Kardon, Heco, Infinity, Jamo, JBL, KEF, Klipsch, Magnat, Marmitek, Mirage, Monitor Audio, Onkyo, Pioneer, Quadral, Tangent, Vivanco, Wharfedale, Yamaha.

That sounds like a good plan bigboss. I've just found the local and only distributor in Switzerland who is charging close to £2000 for the Monitor Audio package as seperates!

Love your set-up bigboss, especially the buttkicker!

Cheers for all the feedback guys. I've just ordered the Boston Acoustics Soundware XS 5.1 system (white). Had a nightmare trying to find a dealer in Switzerland, so amazon and a friend in Germany with a shipping address came to the rescue. Still some budget left for a TV.

Hi Gillhead,

How are you speakers? The Boston Acoustics Soundware XS 5.1 system?

I have the same issues as you, wanted to go for the bose, as I want speakers to be ceiling mounted, and small and discrete.

Thanks
