Hi[/b]

I’ve put the 1020s on ebay and I’m wanting a bookshelf speaker that can offer me more depth [/b]

I have around £200 to spend and want a pair of speakers that can do a better job of bass than my 1020s [/b]

Plenty of good options at that price, especially if you consider ex-dem/second-hand.

I'd add Alesis Monitor One MKII to the list. Only £120 and excellent value for money. Will definitely give you more depth/bass.

Try to get a home demo, or if not possible, use your own amp when auditioning.

I don't' mind ex-demo/second hand but at the moment I have to stick with magnetically shielded speakers as they will be placed right next to my CRT TV so B&W are out of the question which is very sad as I love the B&W sound

I have just sold my Yamaha receiver and Denon micro system so I'm looking to get a new micro system either the new Denon DM38 or then New Onkyo that will be out next month

I would love to have full size separates but this little set up is for the bedroom

Cheers

Dependent upon musical tastes and what amp youre running (plus if you've got stands for the speakers) I'd be looking at the likes of the M/A BR2's or a decent 2nd hand pair of B&W 602 S2's or S3's.

Thoese 3 mentioned speakers will wipe the floor with the Missions!

I have some stands and my music taste is varied

I think the B&W speakers mentioned are not shielded

The BR2s seem good with extension down to 42 Hz but I'm not so sure about the looks

Cheers

Not sure TBH but I have always had my B&W speakers on stands either side of my TV (about 4" away max) and have NEVER had any issues what so ever

My B&W CM5's are currently eitherside of my TV now with about a 6" gap and again no issues

For that money, and if you don't mind going secondhand, Mission's 751 will take some beating. £300 in its' day and it was a fantastic speaker with all kinds of music for me. Open, detailed, punchy as hell and you'll probably get a pair for £100-150.

Q Bass:
Is your TV an old style CRT one?

Cheers

No it's a Panasonic plasma
