My whole point was that it wasn’t an “either/or”. I actually said “each to their own”.

Can’t speak to other markets but my 4K BD player is a Sony - not exactly an esoteric brand. I’d accept few manufacturers are making them, doubtless bcs peeps are increasingly opting for the convenience of streaming.

But I monitor UK activity on the affordable end of Sony and Panasonic players and can say there’s still healthy interest in both players and discs. I buy bargains, “Spring deals” etc. it’s rare I’ll pay more than £20ish for new, less for the “watched once” titles.

I wouldn’t dream of saying my way is the only way 🤷🏼

My Sony UBP X700 UHD player (for the price/performance package, reasonably well rated on WHF) is on Amazon UK new at £229.

I can spend getting on for that on wine every month.
