Seasons greetings everyone

i want to buy a Bluetooth music receiver which has to be compatible with iphone/ipad. Here's a couple of question:

a) can i get a receiver with digital out to connect to irdac?

b) can iphone/ipad send digital signal via BT?

i am a tight budget so anything cheap and cheerful would be great.

thanks

Hay Aminesh.do you use Spotify premium,if so and your feeling lazy, then grab a last gen Amazon fire tv box, hook it up to the tv via hdmi and optical cable to the dac and set up the Spotify app and you can control it from your mobile device with Spotify connect .once it's set up the tv doesn't have to be on,just connected. It's a better option than Bluetooth for sure. The atv takes a hardwired connection so the Spotify app is streaming straight to the box and the device acts as a remote. A less expensive route than shelling out for a dedicated streamer as we don't need the dac.

good suggestion but won't work for me as we have a separate music room and there is no tv there.

Hi why not use airplay with the apple tv 3rd gen, not the latest one, which has an optical out. Alternatively theres the crystal acoustics blu dac which might fit your needs for a bluetooth connection. Reviewed well on what hifi. Finally the really cheap option, and possibly the best sound quality wise, is a long 3.5mm jack to 2 x phono plug cable

i think apple tv might just be the answer As long as it allows me to use my iphone/ipad just as transport. My idea is to stream music to apple tv which will be connected my irdac so all the conversion and amplification is done on the external devices.

btw the last option you suggested is cheap but interms of SQ its probably the worst solution.

The Apple tv also needs a tv to be navigated Aminesh. Also the new unit has no optical out and the third gen(last one)can't stream the Apple music service at all as the app is as yet unavailable ,so you can only stream the stuff on your iTunes library to the apple tv.oh I'm forgetting you can use the AirPlay function that streams from your iPhone (pad)to the atv and then onto the dac(I'm not a fan)it sounds a bit rubbish imho.compared to a hardwired connection. And it absolutely drains the battery on the device it's streaming from.
