My DVD player is on it's last legs and rather than buy a cheap dvd player just to tide me over I'm thinking about taking the Blu-Ray plunge, but I have a 32" Sony HD Ready set, my question is will I suffer the dreaded juddering if I take this route??

It's entirely possible if it's an older 32" model. The player will have to apply pulldown to go to 60Hz so you'll end up with the same sort of judder you see with NTSC DVDs. We've been living with that sort of thing for years, so it's not a reason to avoid BD IMO.

It's the Sony KDL-32D3000 from last year,if the juddering is hardly noticeable then I'll go ahead but I don't want to end up watching a film likes it's almost on fast forward.

You will be fine with that screen.
