Hi im new to this format and like most movie genres so can people recommend blu ray films that really do the movie justice?

does anyone think the godfather trilogy on blu ray will be a good translation from the dvds?

I have already pre ordered the dark night and wanted but i am looking to expand my collection!

Well a few that i found to be top quality................in no particular order

No Country For Old Men, Master and Commander, I, Robot, Beoulf, BladeRunner and Batman Begins would be a good place to start off.................

Also ordered Kill Bill 1+2, Band of Brothers and The Godfather, these should look/sound great on BluRay...........

Don't get too thrilled about the Godfather set. No doubt will look the best it's ever done, and I for one can't wait, but given that both Coppola and Willis have supervised the remaster, I'm sure the film will boast the highly specific colour palette and patina it was designed to have. It's never going to look like I-Robot or Beowulf, but it's better than a dozen of them, any time. Er... except III.

Spiderman trilogy is well worth getting as well may be the Matrix, but avoid Starship troopers trilogy awful looks worst than dvd with lip sync problems on Marauder, only cost me £17.99 from Zavvi early preorder. Now something like £48 forget it.

If you are interested in The Godfather boxset listen to ign digigods podcast (itunes), they talk a little about whats on it and its restoration.

Hi, i'd recommend diehard4, good movie but the soundtrack (dts hd master audio) is something else if you can accommodate high def sound. Apacalypto is another of my favourites if you're prepared to go along with subtitles. I think this is an excellent film with a crisp picture and an ace uncompressed soundtrack full of detail!

Hi one i would recommend not bothering with is Independance day it looked worse than when i watched the upscaled dvd although the sound was good! Cars was very good picture quality and sound if you don't mind a film that is a little less serious!

Into the Blue - stunning quality above and beneath the ocean depths.

The Water Horse - Nice scenery and Nessie looks good in High Def.

The Golden Compass - Plenty of action and breathtaking spirit animal/dust shots.

Disney Cars - V cool Animation, especially reflections from automobiles.

Your TV will sparkle with any of the above.

Shooter
Cars
I am Leg-end
No Country for old men
Assasination of Jesse James

and many more

Plenty of poor ones there aswell
