Blu-ray problem(?)

I've recently installed an LG 32LH2000 tv and hooked it up to a Sony BDP-S360 Blu-Ray player..

However, when watching DVDs on it, the sound lags a fraction of a second behind the picture.

Do you think the Blu-Ray player needs correction? It is very annoying so what course of action should I take?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Cool. I'll try that.

Thanks

Any other suggestions from others?

How have you connected it? Are you using HDMI for picture and audio or are you using optical out for audio?

Try swapping around, this may cure the problem.

Could be a hand-shaking issue, and incidentally......another Sony!

But then again the problem could just as easily be with the TV, confrontational cougar...

And handshaking would have no effect on this situation. If handshaking wasn't happening you'd get no picture at all, or drop-outs.

The problem is presumably to do with the additional processing the player is having to do when upscaling DVDs to near-HD resolution, but I've never known this to be a noticeable problem.

Could be you have some clash of control signals between the two units - probably worth checking that HDMI control/HDMI CEC/Bravia Sync is switched off on both units.

I assumed the same - I get synch issues on poor SD channels sometimes - but it's odd that the sound is BEHIND the picture, when the extra processing should cause the opposite.

Well yes that is strange, unless as I suggested the TV is flagging back to the player something to tell it to delay the sound to let the picture processing catch up, due to some HDMI CEC incompatibility, whereas such delay isn't actually needed.
