Well, as and when regional coding becomes widespread, the machine will only play US BD discs, and in all probability it won't play UK DVDs, either.

Then there are the unpredictable effects of the need for a stepdown transformer to power it, and of course if anything goes wrong, it might have to go back to the States to be fixed...

There is the advantage that when the regional codeing does kick in big time that at least you will be able to watch uncut Blu-Ray movies from the states unlike our trimmed down BBFC versions here, crickey even Casino Royal is cut over here!

Cut for violence, maybe, but our American cousins still edit more of the saucy stuff out

[/quote]This maybe true Clare but personally I wish to watch a movie as the Director intended it to be seen and atleast in the States you get a choice of which version you want to watch if it be the R Rated Theatrical version or the Unrated Directors cut. It even comes into play in say Attack Of The Clones where over here a headbut is removed likewise with The Matrix (the BBFC seams to have a issue with headbutts), surely as Adults we should be free to make up our own minds as to what we watch? But I am sure that as Blu-Ray gains larger sales that some techno-geek with crack the Regional codes as they did with DVD.

Surely the censors who see all this stuff must be raving lunatics by now, after all, isn't that the very reason to censor it from the general viewing public?

If it doesn't affect censors, who are bombarded with these images, then what's the argument for another adult not viewing it?

I can understand banning something from sale that is clearly not between consenting adults, but a head-butt in a mainstream film? Come on, that's just being silly!

So lets say when Kill Bill Vol 1 makes its way onto Blu-Ray we are stuck with the naff European version as opposed to the far superiour Jap version because of the region codes? The Western version has various changes (none by the censor but by the studio) the most notible being a shorter cartoon section and the house of blue leaves fight sceene being in black and white as opposed to colour. With DVD being easily multiregion this has never been a issue to date for me and yes maybe my choice does fall outside THE NORM, but I love Horror movies from the likes of Fulci and Argento and if these were to ever arrive on Blu-Ray I would never buy the UK versions as they are cut to shreads. Have you ever seen what the BBFC have done to Cannibal Holocaust? At the end of the day we dont all watch the latest popcorn fodder from Hollywood but unless someone does figure out a hack for the new Blu-Ray units I will end up having to have 3 machines, one for each region, which I would not enjoy having to do. Am I one of the only people on here who actually does resurch into a DVD before purchaseing to make sure I am getting the Best version avalible? I have DVDS from all 6 regions and would wish to be able to follow suit when buying a Blu-Ray.
