What type of display are you using? To spend that kind of money on a BD spinner, I a) wouldn't do it without a demo to appreciate the differences for myself and b) Would only spend that if I had a higher end big display e.g. Pro Panel, Kuro, 1080p projector. Have you read the last two month's mags? Both are inundated with BD player reviews, which should be online. That said, it is your money but in my opinion, the marginal increase in quality of these players does not justify the cost. The law of diminishing returns springs to mind. I would get out to the dealers and do some side-by-side comparisons rather than listening to online opinion and review only.
If I had £900 burning a hole in my pocket, I would wait and see what
the new Sony players are like e.g. 360. Hopefully the new budget players from Sony and Pioneer will be a step above the current players and have full profile 2.0 (not that anyone needs it), full HD audio decoding (which will be required for some discs), quicker loading times etc. I would then spend the difference on a NAS and Squeezebox and rip all my CD's in lossless format. Since installing
my Squeezeboxes, I have hardly turned the CD player on and now have
access to my entire CD library, internet radio, last.fm and so on.
