Have Onkyo 605 receiver with Sony 350 Blu Ray player. DVDs use all of the 5.1 channels, but when a Blu Ray disc is played, there is no sound from rear speakers. Anyone have any ideas?

Any Blu Ray disc. Could this be a firmware problem as 350 Doesnt support DTS Hd Master audio

Shouldn't be an issue as your Onkyo 605 can decode the DTS HD Master Audio formats so as long as the settings are correct, it should be fine.

Assuming your 350 is connected into the Onkyo with an HDMI cable, let's do a basic check of the settings, as per page 44-45 of the manual, under Audio Settings, have you got Audio Output Priority set to HDMI, Audio (HDMI) set to Auto, BD Audio Setting set to Direct, Dolby Digital set to Dolby Digital and DTS set to DTS?

BD Audio setting was set to mix. So changing to direct has solved it.Simple really.

Thanks for your help

Changed speakers to KEF in my set up of Sony BD350 and Onkyo 605.

Settings are as per manual and your last email. Ordinary DVDs exhibit full 5.1 but Blue Ray still leaves out rear speakers.

Any suggestions?

Are you playing a 7.1 disc with a 5.1 system. If so, the speakers might be hooked up to the 2 other rears/sides that you aren't using. I know this sounds silly but it got me for a week or two.
