Current players won't be obsolete as the BDXL is aimed at studio mastering and the Hybrid ones are a potential replacement for players needing memory, as the majority of players have USB storage and PS3 has a HDD this is unlikely to catch on soon, particularly as it would cost the companies that produce the movies more money in making discs.
 
Yes, they're aimed at business sectors first and it is likely to be some time before it passes down to consumers. Mostly probably this will be when the BDA thinks consumers may start looking for a second generation player. The content to justify larger discs will also need to be there.
