Blu Ray, CD Players and FLACs

Here's my dilemma.

Until recently I have listened to my music collection via my ipod or PC.

Since upgrading my amp and speaker last week I’ve been blown away by the improvement by listening to CDs through my cheap as chips DVD player. What I'd like to do is get a Blu Ray player for viewing Blu-Rays and listen to my FLACs via a DLNA set up. Panasonic looks like the main option. I've been thinking about getting a Panasonic DMP-BDT22. Does anyone have a view on how my FLACS will sound? I have a massive collection and would prefer this to messing around with CDs.

The reason I'm hesitating is I wonder how good the audio will be on the Panasonic DMP-BDT22. Should I compliment it with a cheapish CD player (such as DENONDCD520 or Onkyo C-7030) or would I be better getting a higher spec Blu Ray such as Panasonic DMP-BDT500? Any thoughts?

I have a Cambridge Audio 751BD which will play blu-rays, CDs and FLACs to a very high standard (amongst other formats). They are currently selling for £550 In richer Sounds I think, as the model has now been superseded.

The only thing you ought to be aware of - get a demo if you can to make sure you're happy with it - is that the network browser interface is a little rudimentary - if you have 100s of FLAC albums and you're going to be sreaming them via DLNA, then you might decide it's a little too clunky.

Check out the Sonys for DLNA, they might have a decent app for streaming.

I have the CA751BD too, and to my knowledge CA don't even have a decent streaming app for the newer 752 as well. Or Oppo for that matter. They've built these brilliant and packed machines but left the steering wheel at home. Shocking really.

Yes, there are choices to be made. :?

The newest models of BD-players could do what you prefer, but as others mentioned it's not always the most functional and/or best way to go.

It's somehow always 'work in progress'. ;)
