Blown RXV3900

Hi,

I am looking for some advice as to a suitable replacement for my Yamaha RXV3900, which my son kindly cooled down with a mug of water.

I use it with a Monitor Audio RS6-AV speaker system with chord speaker cables. The inputs are Sky HD and PS3 for mainly movies. Looking to spend £1500 ish.

I was told not to pair my system with an Onkyo amp as it would not sound very good, is this still the case?

If you like the Yamaha sound you could pick up a bargain A3010 for £1100 to £1300 at the moment as the newer model A3020 has just been released. I have the older V3067 and the A3010 was definitely better sounding when I auditioned them both a year ago.
