I did start a previous thread about peoples preferences for all black, all silver or both.

This is how my HC looks at the mo, albeit the BR5s have temporarily been replaced by a pair of silver RS6s to run in. I know the CDP shouldn't be sat on the amp lke that but will be gone into another room with the RS6s and an amp in the next week or so.

I really like the mix of black & slver and the way they contrast each other so when its back to all black think it'll look boring.

PS This is my first picture post and I stumbled my way through it, so if I've got anything wrong please let me know

Awesome, I used to own the Roksan Kandy KC-1...you made me all nostalgic

*Edit* - thinking back I don't think there was any audible difference I miss not having a dedicated CD player...

The KC1 does seem to sit very well with what I have and am hoping once I get round to getting a stereo amp it will do even better.

It'll be the source in my (mainly) 2nd hand music system.

richardw42 your setup looks awesome i myself own the marantz 1501 and i'm looking to pair it with some monitor audio br1s. how are you finding the sound quality so far?

once again nice setup.

Hi thanks for your comments although looking at photo again think I could really do with upgrading my camera.

As you can see from my sig I'm a bit of a Monitor Audio fanboy so maybe I wouldn't give the most objective opinion

I use my BR1s as rear speakers but the amp plays very happily with the MA BR5s at the front, in fact at the moment I'm using a pair of MA RS6s at the front and the amp suits these as well. Others may disagree but the MA sound justs what I'm after.

The NR1501 also copes very well in stereo music mode with my CD player. Quite suprisingly well actually considering as many would consider it to be a budget AV amp with just 50 wpc.

One thing to say is that this is my first Home Cinema set-up, so I might not know any better.

In my experience with MA, the BR1s should suit well.

thanks for your quick response, what led me to my purchase was a demo i had which consisted of the br1s at the front with a matching center and some different ones used for rears. a rel t-1 sub was also in the mix and the sound quality was phenomenal.

i know that the max volume of the marantz is 80 but i ended up turning it down to around the 50 mark as the sound quailty was really powerful and after being impressed with what i heard i ended up buying one.

i have had many amps and speakers over the years and wanted to get a more discreet amp and although the marantz isn't as powerful as some that i have had in the past iam very very impressed with the quality of sound this thing produces.

with the combination you have what volume level do you find suitable for you?

I live in a terrace so have to go a bit careful.

Usually have it in the low to mid 40s, but if I'm sure the neighbours are out I'll go up to about 50-52. This is loud enough for me.

Interesting you mention you demo'd with a REL sub as the one part of my system that might get changed is the sub-woofer. To the RSW12 perhaps ? Or perhaps I need to do more experimenting with it.

At the mid 40s still never use after about 7 (being neighbour friendly). Moving to a detatched soon so can turn right up

Sounds great at those volumes.

I hesitate to make reccommendations as I'm absolutely no expert but to my ears the Marantz / MA is great together.
