Just found this while wandering around the streets here: 130w valve stereo amplifier/receiver.

It looks very old-fashioned, comes complete with tone controls, weighs a tonne and has what looks like a massive toroidal thingy inside, plus, as the name suggests, a couple of valves. It was the price, however, that struck me: 249€.

I'd have thought cheapo lightweight plasticky junk, but, as I said, it's a heavy beast and seems quite well-made.

Which one are you looking at? You're linking to the page with all of the amps thereon, but maybe not the specific one you had in mind. No prices either and I might have missed it, but in general, they might be alright. Are you thinking about ordering one? If you're in the UK or Europe there will be an import duty to pay on top of the cost of the amp in all likelihood, so factor that in too.

The item is readily available is here in Finland, which has a 22% VAT rate, so if anything it would be cheaper in the UK. Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to buy one. Apart from the fact I'm living in hotels in the next few months, trying to recover from the financial crisis, and might have some tricky explanations to make, I think it would exceed Easyjet's cabin baggage measurements!

Ah, that one does look a bit interesting - a bit of a nod to the old Pioneer volume knobs of old I think but it reminds me more of the Graaf tube amps looking at it again.

Must have a dig around on the web - see what there is on the model/brand. Could be worth a punt, but risky if it's not what you're looking for sonically though.

.the record spot, It's sold as Procaster in Finland if that helps.
