Hi ALL,

I have just acquired an audiolab 8000P to bi-amp my 8000S but i am not sure of the connection . I followed the instruction manual of the 8000S by connecting the " PRE-OUT " of the 8000S to the " INPUT " of the 8000P.

This has been for 2 weeks but today I switch the MODE from PRE-POWER to PRE and discovered that the sound only comes out from the left speaker. But if I switch to " integrated " or " pre-power ", I can hear sound from both speaker.

Would like to know is the instruction from the 8000S manual correct ?

Thanks...

I dont think youve biamped them properly for starters. Your supposed to use the pre to drive treble left and right, and the power to drive bass left and right. Sounds to me like youve got one driving left and one driving right?

Yes.I got a pair of cables connected to the 8000S in left/right and another pair connected to the 8000P in left/right too.

wai_siu_bow:Yes.I got a pair of cables connected to the 8000S in left/right and another pair connected to the 8000P in left/right too.
Alien is right, I think your cable are wrong too.
first of all make sure that the metal bars between the terminals on your speakers are removed.

The 8000S Left Pre Out to the 8000P Left Pre In. 8000S Right Pre Out to 8000P Right Pre In. The 8000S selector must be set to Integrated.

8000S left speaker outputs to Left Speaker treble inputs. 8000S right speaker outputs to Right speaker treble inputs. 8000P left Speaker outputs to Left Speaker Bass inputs, 8000P right speaker outputs to Right speaker Bass Inputs.

Hope that works.

Ok. Let me say again.

Link bars from speakers connecting the HF and LF ARE REMOVED...

1. A pair of interconnect from " Pre-out " of 8000S to " Input " of 8000P

2. Speaker cables from LEFT output of 8000S to HF input of LEFT speaker

3. Speaker cables from RIGHT output of 8000S to HF input of LEFT speaker

2. Speaker cables from LEFT output of 8000P to LF input of LEFT speaker

3. Speaker cables from RIGHT output of 8000P to LF input of LEFT speaker

Selector switch to "pre" - only hear sound from LEFT speaker.

Selector switch to " integrated" or " pre-power " can hear sound from both speakers.

Hope this can helps to clear things out.

And NEON,

What do you mean by

The 8000S Left Pre Out to the 8000P Left Pre In. 8000S Right Pre Out
to 8000P Right Pre In. The 8000S selector must be set to Integrated.

Thanks....

By "Pre In" - I mean the 8000P Input.

Questin. Selector switch to "pre" - only hear sound from LEFT speaker -- Do you hear full range music or just tizz tizz of the speaker.

Answers: Right Tweeter brokem if about Question is true. Or there is something wrong with your amp otherwise.

Hi NEON,

Thanks for the response. I can only hear muffle sound from the left speaker when switch selector to " Pre "

New discovery. When I re-connect the interconnect from the "input" of 8000P to "Load" of 8000P, I CAN hear sound from BOTH right and left speaker.

The "INPUT" and "LOAD" suppose to be connected in parallel right ?

Another question - What is the difference between " input " and " Load " on the audiolab 8000P.

Thanks...............

The muffle sound on the left is correct as most of the music comes from the Bass that is disconnected - thus the only problem you have is why no treble sound is coming out of the right tweeter. Check your connections, etc. If that still doesn't work, then as a Test try the 8000S driving the Bass and 8000P driving the treble. If you have a bad amp, then the right Bass won't work, if you have a bad tweeter, then the right Bass will work but the treble won't. That is the very most likely scenario, a new tweeter req'd.

Input is from your pre/intigrated amp

Load is to link a further power amp (like your pre out)

Can I use 8000M "Load" to link to 8000S "PreOut" to have additional power amp?
