Now we are fast approaching the end of this year, it got me thinking what was the best movie I have seen this year.

I think I would go with Watchmen Blu ray.

How about you?

I've not heard of this fillum (save for on here). Given some folk on here rate Transformers2... what is your second favourite!

I've really enjoyed "Moon", "The Hurt Locker", "The Hangover", "Star Trek XI" and ... that's it really...

Im not sure to be honest. Gran tarino is good but i think the acting of the youngsters, especially the lad really let it down. With stronger performances from them it could have been a lot better.

The best film i have seen recently is coraline. Great story.

Actually, i think the best film of the year for me is probably the Dark Knight, followed by slumdog.

ahh, have yet to see District9.

Forgot to include "Let The Right One In" - it was great. Watched it alone (as herself doesn't understand why anyone would subject themselves to fear) with a few glasses of decent malbec.

(meant that Watchmen passed me by)

Best movie Inglourious Basterds i'm a big Tarantino fan and went to the premiere in London so it's obviously going to get my vote but as much as i love it have to say The Good , the Bad The Weird is my favorite movie this year. Star Trek would be the best blu-ray so far and The Hangover would get best comedy.

I think Taken was an excellent show case for Blu Ray. A bit sappy either side of an immense hour of superb action. Liam Neeson was brilliant. Also, The Hangover due out in a few days, is a great comedy with lots of laughs. Probably my two favourites. It hasn't been a great year for films.

I forgot about the Dark Knight, although I thought Slumdog was way over rated.

I keep my money safely in my pockets :) Come to think of it, I would choose Watchmen too - as the WORST MOVIE OF THE YEAR!

I actually thought it was better than the hype. I spent quite a bit of time in india in 2008 and that helped me relate to it more than if i hadnt.

Star Trek for me I reckon, though also enjoyed Gran Torino and Watchmen. Let The Right One In was good, but I didn't really understand the references to "Best Horror Film of the Year" - was it a horror? Not in my mind. I think that let it down a bit for me as it wasn't what I was expecting and was built up for - will probably enjoy it more next time I watch it!

Best random Blu-Ray purchase of the year goes to Sophie Scholl - came out a while back but I bought it this year knowing very little about it (other than the obvious) since it was cheap and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Hurt locker.

I liked shooter, but thats old

Star trek.

Watchmen was ok, but was too busy staring at silk spectre.

Loved iron man, and though robert downey would bomb, but he has proved himself.

Just got Band of brothers, so hoping for good things.

I enjoyed:

Gran Torino, Watchmen, Slumdog Millionaire, Mesrine (pts 1&2) and The Lives of Others (couple of years old though).
