Best cheap lifestyle speakers?

What would members recommend for a cheapish 5.1 set please?

Erm, my eldest son's tring to get into the AV stuff.

He just got a Panny 42" Plasma and wants to get some decent suround sound, he would prefer a life stye speaker as the room is small and cluttered some what.

So I guess I'm trying to say The cheapest possible that would go with a decent entry level AVAmp.

I've advised him as much as poss,but though I'd ask here as well for back-up
