Any thoughts? I'm away from home for three months and have realised I need more than headphones.

Budget about 200-500 €. Sound preferably not forward nor weedy, but extremes of bass are not required. Oh, and must be shippable to the Scandinavian part of Europe.

Ideally they could then be used back in Blighty as a proper stereo until funds have recovered enough for me to buy a proper system.

d'Feldt and Audio Pro are names that comes to mind.

There's lots of inexpensive studio monitors, but they will typically have a neutral sound, that might be thought of as 'weedy' or 'forward'. For ?500 you might get a pair of Genelecs, which, at least, have got brilliant reviews in hi-fi magazines -- but hey might still be too 'weedy' for your taste.

Thanks, Fahnsen, Audiopro looks like it might be the go as they seem to have a good reputation. Have you heard them yourself? I'll be buying blind so a description of what they sound like would be good, and I'm wary of some of the eulogies you read on the www .
