Best 22 incher?

New LCD wanted for the kitchen, budget as little as I can get away with TBH, but I'm not interested in a substandard set. It'll be used pretty much exclusively for watching Freeview, but I may add a PVR or DVD player at a later date. Richer Sounds are offering an LG M227WD at £189 which looks decent on paper, but it's in-store only and my nearest branch is 120 miles away. Is this a telly worth pursuing? Any others I should be looking at?

I'd look at the Samsung range, they've got some good ones, and we've a roundup of (slightly larger) 26in LCD TVs in the new issue of the mag, on sale this Wednesday.

Thanks Andy. I'm looking forward to the 26" test, and was planning to use it for some guidance, though isn't it a safe assumption that a different screen size in an otherwise identical model can mean a lot of difference in performance?

Yes, you're right, the fact that one model at a certain screen size gets a good review doesn't automatically mean that a smaller/bigger model in the same range will perform just as well.

That said, we've had good results with Samsung sets of late and I recently bought a 19in Samsung for my bedroom, which I'm very pleased with. But we haven't tested many 22in models recently, so sorry I can't be more specific.
