i'm about to buy a beresford dac also.ÿ is it best to just hook it up via my laptop's 3.5mm headphone jack?ÿ if so, can anyone recommened an interconnect?

If it is also an optical out yes. You need to feed a DAC with a digital connection be it optical, co-ax or USB. Optical cable wise it depends on the length you need really as most aren't available too long. Is it optical you are after, and if so what length?ÿ

The Beresford doesn't have a USB connection. If you can post the make and model of your laptop I'll have a looksies.

No you'll need a cable such as any of these, though you can find them cheaper if that's too much and also a normal RCA interconnect to connect it to the amp.

I'm buying a couple of these; one for my DAC, one for my HDR.

Seems as though everyone is out of stock. Tried two places. HiFiCables.co.uk and HiFiBitz.co.uk. Only found out that they had no stock after I ordered!

I think Stanley can sell you a 3.5 mm optical adapter at the same time as he sells you the DAC. You may want to hold fire as I've heard a rumour that Stanley is soon to introduce a new DAC with USB support. Can anybody point me in the direction of a site with details of this? It's not mentioned on his website.
