bad noise from pro-ject record player

bought pro-ject record player and connected it to the phone socket on the back of my roksan kandy amp and then a buzz and over sensitive noise on records. Put it in a line out socket and it was fine however alot quieter.Why???

Sounds like you've got one with a built in phono box, and should go in a line socket. What's the model?

In theory, yes. Check if there is any woofer excursion. If in doubt, take it back.

Debut 3 or Debut 3 'Phono'? The distinction is important......

Then it has a built in phono stage, and should be plugged into a line level input. Job done.

Presumably you only tried it briefly? In which case I'd think not.
