I picked up a 40 inch Samsung LCD TV (LE40A656) a couple of weeks ago.

It wasn't til I viewed it later at night that I noticed that the back light was shining through in both of the top corners of the tv. It looks almost like the corners are slightly cloudy and is noticeable when in a dark sceen in a film. Especially annoying when your film has borders. The picture doesn't distort in the top corners it's just brighter than it should be.

So, although I'm one of these people that hates taking things back...the tv went back to Currys who after a few hours "testing" exchanged it for a new one.

The replacement has the same issue with the backlight shining through in the top corners of the tv - I think it's called "backlight bleed". Has anyone else found this issue with their lcd tv?

On the upside the picture is phenominal apart from this issue which is annoying.

My dilemma is this...I'm still within the 28 days so could take it back again for another replacement(Unlikely) or change the tv entirely(More likley). As I really want a 100 hz tv which my new tv is I'd probably need to throw more cash at it to get a better Samsung or upgrade to a Sony.

However, I have heard that this is a common problem with LCD's and almost goes with the territory. So should I stick with what I've got?

It just feels a little crazy paying £800 for a TV that should be perfect but isn't.

Thanks for your help

This problem you are witnessing is very common place with LCD TVs but with some of the more expensive LED backlit screens the problem is not as bad but these sets are almost double the price of what you have paid for you current set.

Personally if you are finding this backlight bleed anoying (as I do) then I would strongly recomend taking it back and exchanging it for a Plasma as you will not get any of these issues as a Plasma is not backlit.
