Thanx PP for the info. The Evo 2 is bright sounding?

Regarding 50A the opinions are shared between bright and neutral to warm.

I think peoples view of what they class as bright differs greatly. Personally I have owned an Evo 2 and currently have the 5350, neither of which I would call "bright" in the slightest. I can listen to the 5350 for hours on end without fear of fatigue.

Likewise my 2M Blue has been described as on the bright side, yet I don't recognise that trait at all. We all have different ears.

you use a rx-1010....hmmmm, how does it sound?

I have a rx-1020 and did have it set up for stereo with a pair of Mission 782se's when I 1st got it. Did not go through the auto set up and did not go through the menus setting it up. For music was not too impressed with it generally - the mid range was great but the upper and lower end sounded as it they'd been rounded off.

The 1010 I believe had a good rep for music though. I also use an old Yamaha DSP ax-620 for music which IS good with my speakers and as also seen of some mid priced amps - 700poundish.

best bet, make sure which ever amp you audition does sound better than your reciever (your reciever is very flexable with options a stereo amp cannot compete with) , don't get hoodwinked by a salesperson just cranking it up whilst talking to you at the same time.

have you experimented with the options available to you on your reciever?

This was my experience of the Evo2. Precise, punchy but yet smooth.

Hi, I used the Creek Evo2 with MA BX5 and foolishly sold it to "upgrade". I now have the RX6 and cannot find a Creek used for a good price anywhere, though I've gone through Bryston B-100SST and Marantz PM11S2 at 10X the used price of the Creek, neither were a better match for the MAs. I'd personally choose Creek or Arcam and I'm looking for both, though I wish they had built in DACs like the Cyrus for ease of use. The MA RX6 does not require a huge amount of power, they sound good with my Marantz HT receiver with ~100X2. I think the more detail you throw at them the better they perform without getting harsh.

Great comments all...

I've always stated that Creek Evo range is similar to Arcams, often described them as "Arcam on Viagra", hence why they work so well with MAs metal domed tweeter.

IMO, Creek is fairly neutral with a fabulous midrange. Wonderful amps for the money.

Thank you all for the infos. I see that the topic was chaged to Evo2 which is not available anymore :). I read that on Creek 50 A Mike has changed the circuitry and I am wondering if the tonality is also chaged. What about bas? I read some opinions that is much slimer than Evo 2. I am not a bas freak and I am looking for a clean bas.
