I'm new to the iPod/Apple iTunes thingy-me-jig but it's coming up to my 30th birthday in August and I fancy treating myself to a Zeppelin.

To be honest I don't want to go for an iPod as I have no need for one and the same with an iPhone; I already have 2 mobiles (one for work and my personal one) and both are good phones.

What I would like to know is that if I bought a Zeppelin; can I use it with my laptop as the source via Apple Airport Express without having a wireless network in the house (my laptop is connected to the modem via the standard cable)?

Also; if I do use the laptop as a source with the Airport express; is it work getting a DAC to go between the source and the Zeppelin (i.e. a Beresford or the C/A DAC)?

Thanks

I'm sure you could do this if the Zeppelin has a aux input but why spend £400 on a dedicated iPod dock if you don't intend to buy an iPod?

If you already own a receiver and speakers or micro system with Aux-in you could get an Airport Express to stream music wirelessly from your laptop to your hi-fi. You would need a simple 3.5mm jack to phono cable to connect them up. Or you could just plug your laptop directly into the hi-fi if you're not bothered about wireless.

Otherwise you might be better off spending the money on a decent stereo amp and speakers.

I use an Airport Express to stream music from my computer in one room to my home cinema reciever in the lounge and the sound quality is reasonable, bearing in mind that it's a cheap system and the music is compressed anyway.

Hope this helps.

I forgot to mention that you may also be able to use your existing mobile phone as the remote control for your Music stored on the computer- check out Salling Clicker on the web

Hi d_a_n1979

You can indeed use the Zeppelin with Airport Express.

There's information on it here:

Just download the 'connectivity' guide.

Hope that helps.
