B&W Zeppelin or Micro system???? please help

Hi there, new to all this home audio so bare with me.

I am looking at a system that will dock my iphone, this will sit under my TV in the stand. The zeppelin is the best looking and sounding dock according to many reviews and i had a demo in john lewis the other day and i was blown away!

I have now looked at the denon M37DAB which gets 5 stars every where i look. If i were to hook this up to the denon Ipod dock and run a pair of q accoutics 1020i's which system will give the best sound overall, the zep or Denon. I listen to ALL types of music from motown to rock and hip hop.

Can anyone please advise

Sorry, missed this one.

Answer is, the Denon will give you a better sound - especially if you plant those speakers a decent distance apart, and ideally on stands or isolation blocks. Also, of course, gives you DAB and FM radio, and CD playback - neither of which the B&W offers.

But the Zeppelin is superb as an all-in-one unit- and goes far louder and deeper than any other iPod system out there at anywhere near that money.

can't comment on the q acoustics speakers but my dad recently bought the denon with warfdale 9.1's and it sounds superb. i think you can pick the speakers up cheaply too so they're worth a look.

having heard a little of the zepplin in John Lewis i think the denon beats it. althought it will take up more space.

You seem a little impatient stan 🙂 Well what you're asking may not be that easy for people to answer. Whats needed here are replies from several people who have had both the mentioned systems and can give informed opinions. What you're likely to get is zeppelin owners saying what a fine system and Denon owners saying the same. You need to hear both really.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I personally think the zeppelin is a hideous looking thing. IMHO of course.

the zep is fantastic if you want a one box system just for your iphone - which i am sure you could also use for internet radio if you have a wireless router

the denon adds a cdp if you want one? or if you buy the zep you could always use a dvd player if you also have one near your tv which i am sure you will

as a third suggestion try also having a listen to the fatman carbon mkII valve dock and a pair of budget speakers ma br1s, wharfs 9.1s or the q accoustics you mentioned - a particular favorite of mine as i love the valve sound and think it really opens up the ipod

also have a listen to the marantz cr502 as i think ite better than the denon for a few quid more

Thanks for all your thoughts. The denon and the speakers will have to go next to each other to start with as have no room for stands etc. My mate is coming over and loaning me his zeppelin for a few days so i can see what the sound is like. No such luck with the denon so i will have to make do with a shop demo (not as good). The main issue is with the space, under my tv. The denon is a perferct fit, the zeppelin is a little tight.

I suppose if i went with the denon i can add a sub/better speakers and stand at a later date if i wanted to !!

What about the Vita Audio R4?

It's got the dock you need plus CD & radio. Looks awesome in the gloss finishes too. Not heard one myself, but my mate is looking to buy one and he said he was impressed when he heard it in the store (John Lewis I think).

just been looking online, does n e one own an ONKYO 725. This looks pretty good compared to the denon. It has all the features like the denon but has got dihital INPUT (good for my Ps3) and it has a more powerful built in amp.

What are people thoughts on this setup????????????

Well, Had the demo of the zeppelin the other day. It fitted perfectly under the TV on the stand. It filled the room with sound comfortably and the quality was second to none.

However, Still un-decided between the zep and the Denon! The flexability and future expansion of the denon system is still tempting

Does anyone know if i can connect the zep to a dab radio eg pure evoke 1 or similar that just may make up my mind ???

Try and listen to the Jamo i300b better soundstage than Zeppelin
