Like a number of you, I suspect, I have signed up for three months free membership.

This allows music downloads in FLAC or Apple Lossless but when you donwload them they are in .zip format. I thought this was a compressed file format. Is there any loss as a consequence of this compression?

Probably a dumb question but someone has to ask them

A zip file is another lossless compression format. They are commonly used to package files for download. This way you can download one file and get the dozen or so tracks in the album

Many applications comes as .zip files

Don't worry about it

Hi visionary

Zip is a lossless compression and known for its superior integrity. You get out what you put in.

Since the FLAC and ALC files already use lossless compression, we don't really achieve any extra compression on the folders by using Zip anyway. It is just a handy way of packaging the downloads in one single file with the CD artwork etc.

Hope that clears it up, and I very much hope you enjoy the music.

Thanks

Shaun
