I've finally narrowed down my choice of speakers between these 2, but still have a couple of questions I would like answered.

1) Are these a good match for my Sony 2400es amp? Getting an audition where I live isnt easy, hence why I'm asking.

2) Is the difference in performance between the 2 subwoofers worth the extra money?

3) I'll be wall mounting the speakers and believe the terminations are a bit fiddly. I was looking to use either Chord Carnival Silverscreen or QED Silver Anniversary XT, but I've read elsewhere that the Chord maybe to large to fit. Can anyone with these speakers confirm this and advise what cable they are using.

Thanks in advance.

I've not heard the ASW608 sub myself, but can vouch for the PV1 being a sub of exceptional abilities.

If I were you, I'd try to audition both (and maybe the ASW610 and ASW610XP subs too).

This way you'll know first hand if the subs further up the range are worth it. It may also depend on how large your room is.

I use QED S.A XT on all my M1 satellite speakers with no negative issues.

I used QED silver Micro with the B&W MT30 and that worked really well.

The QED silver Anniversary XT will work even better and yes it will be fine. As for fiddly it's just a myth what hi fi created

Where'd you get that from? I've hooked up the M-1s when used with the stands and it is fiddly I can assure you. Once it's done though, it is done at least and this shouldn't detract people from buying them as they are fabulous little speakers.

Setting any speakers up with stands is fiddly - yes all are.

Separately they are not. What hi fi are putting people of buying because of there fiddly comments, and that should not detract

them.

It's a 5* review,and to quote......

"True, wiring the satellites is fiddly, but given the list of positives,
we're prepared to accept one little negative - this package is a star
of a style system".

Pointing out one slight negative in what is a generally positive review is hardly detracting from the product/putting people off.

To answer the original question i bought the MT-25's with a Denon 2310.

I am very happy with the sound and combination, couldn't strech to the PV1 sub as i blew more than my budget on the 2310!

The guys at Glasgow Audio said the PV1 made a difference, if you wanted to spend another £600 and have a big room to fill.

Go audition the 610 and PV1 if you have the budget and prefer it go for the PV1.

Connecting the cables are a problem, I couldn't get my Ecosse cables to fit.- much to my wifes amusement!

However the guys at Ecosse are great I live near their factory and they stripped down my cables and bent them so the would fit easily- thats what i call great customer service.

However if you are using the enclosed wall mounts the speaker cables look far easier to fit as you take off the fiddly connections in the speaker stand base.

If you tag gives away where you stay go into G Audio's sister store in Aberdeen they would let you see if your existing cables would fit or you might buy better quality for the front and centre than the surround speakers.

GJ does the sound go really loud and clear with your combination?

Thanks

By the way good to see you are happy with your setup.

Very happy with the level of volume, finally got to watch my Gladiator Blue Ray and felt a bit of reverb with the dialogue in the beginning but it was ceratinly loud and clear enough later on, i even turned it down from -20 to -25 at one point.

Last week i watched Star trek and was equally impressed i even think my wife ducked at one point to avoid the phasers!

I know people have said that my amp is overspec'd for the speakers but i am really happy with them. I comes down to your personal choice, we have a toddler who had already put some toys in my sub so even although i contemplated the larger B&W's which are recommended for the 2310 the MT-25's dont look out of place sound great and are probably more child proof than the larger speakers.
