Why is the b&w cm1 classed as a monitor rather than a speaker?
Because, for some unknown reason, it seems to add 'credibility' to a product even though it means very little. Neither is it a clearly defined subject (even studio monitors, near or far field differ as night and day unless its BBC specification Rogers/Harbeths or whatever but even there are differences if you compare a modern sterling with an original LS3A. They should measure/sound the same as they are manufactured to original and very tight specification but difference in materials etc make this very difficult). Even if it was a monitor it would mean just about nothing in hifi terms as a flat response ie. within perhaps 1-2db over the entire frequency range does not always make for nice listening, its just helpful for accurate monitoring.
The CM1 is everything but neutral. Its a nice little speaker though.

Hey thanks drummerman
I think i kind of understand you, basically the cm1 isnt a moniter at all, just a speaker that likes the boomy stuff lol??
