another quick speaker question...

i currently have a beresford tc7510 > nad c325bee > wharfedale 9.1's

i'm looking for a new set of speakers for the system and have seen some b&w 602, both s2 and s3 on ebay and the s2 seem to be cheaper. is there a significant difference in the two models or more of a few tweeks?

i will be keeping the 9.1's also to use with my CA 540a, and may sometimes switch between the 2 speakers.

what i like about the current set up is the warmth and smoothness of the sound, but i find it lacking in bass and with some genres some lack of detail in the higher frequencies.

as the b&w 602's are larger than average speakers (with 7inch bass/mid drivers?) will they be more bassy than the 9.1's? and given they have a metal tweeter will the highs be clear (but hopefully not too bright as paired with a nad amp?)

i cant try before i buy, but am happy to re-sell on ebay if i dont like them...... but do people think thet're worth a punt? and if so are the s3 worth the extra cash?

thanks

I can't comment on the pairing with the amp you have but Bowers and Wilkins have a very comprehensive Archive section on their website which should help in ascertaining the differences between the two models.

What kind of music do you listen to?

I've owned botht the B&W sets opf speakers and IMO both are as good as each other but the B&W 602 S3's are just that little bit smaller.

They will both reproduce great bass as well as detailed midrange and crisp treble. They are big speakers though and will be best on decent stands that are mass loaded (i.e. Soundstyle Z2's/Atacama Nexus 5's or 6's at a minimim loaded with atabites).

The B&W speakers will work very well with your NAD amp; great synergy and the amps got plenty of gusto to power them to their best.
