guys a question has been playing on my mind....

Is the sound signature of Yamaha UK same as Yamaha USA....?

Is it ok to say that RX 2067 will sound exactly the same as AX 2000 ?

Thanks

i know... :) lol...

was all set on 2067 but now that i bought PSB speakers i'm confused between 2067 and NAD T 747.

Although the RX V2067 only managed 4 stars here on WhatHifi... its brother across the pond... The RX A2000 has got excellent reviews all over north america and is being labelled "top pick", "recommended buy" etc by different publications .

I live in india and we have the same RX V2067 version that is available in the UK.

So just wanted to be sure if i can go by the north american reviews and assume that the RX A2000 will sound identical to RX V2067.

That's the only thing holding me back.... i'm ready to buy right now if i only knew for sure that the A2000 and V2067 have exactly the same sound so then i'm sure i'm investing in something worthy.... :)

To answer the original question... In my opinion yes they do sound different.

The UK Yamahas carry the "UK Tuned" badge that has never been displayed on the US versions. This could be seen as pure marketing hype, but when I moved to this country I was surprised to find that Yamaha AVRs were renowned for a warm sound, as in the states they are renowned for having a very clear and digitally clinical sound. For this, it means there really must be a tuned bias on either one or both models for local tastes.

As said so many times before, don't go blindly by star ratings. Read the review in depth as well. Yamaha managed "only" 4 stars, but according to the reviewer,

'We're not saying the Yamaha is bad. On the contrary, it's a terrifically enjoyable AV amp, that's great to listen to and live with. It's just that it can't quite reach the sonic heights of the very best in class.'

It seems impossible for you to just take a decision & buy an AV receiver!

"UK tuned" simply means that the receiver sounds 'warm', because the manufacturer has decided that the British prefer warm sound.

The 2067 is a superb receiver & you won't be disappointed. Just buy it!!

From what I have heard, is this:

The americans like the hard in your face base, louder is better, whilst the british are a more refined people who like smooth and detailed music.

IMO from being from canada, I like the british way, its not all about 20" woofers and 2000w of power.

There are new models of all AV equipment all the time and if you keep waiting for the next model you will never buy anything!

Just go and listen to what is currently available and buy the product you like the sound of best with the features you need now.

Then after you make your purchase you can enjoy listening to it while you plan your next upgrade!

The main new feature is AirPlay, although you will usually see some features filtering down the range to lower price points.

It would be nice to see a processor from Yamaha, especially seeing as they originated the processor Market and dominated it for so many years.

Introduction of Airplay and Apple-ipod/iphone support wd be great....I juss neeed Yamaha to save the Pre-Out feature in d coming V669... so dat with one set of speakers we can have a Dedicated HT and Dedicated Stereo setup by hooking up the fronts thru a 2-Ch Stereo Amp.,.....

Usually there are no major improvements in AV receivers with newer models (except the 3D capability last year).

there were quite a lot of improvements from 1900/3900/Z7 era to current gen - so not sure you can say that

(1) reports that YPAO has been substantially improved (this is from reviews)

(2) DACs were improved on the 3067 over the 3900/Z7

(3) 2067/3067 etc use a new type of PSU/power amp arrangement

so continuous improvements really :)
