AVI Neutron 5s with amp packs

Are these active speakers or just speakers with amplifiers attached? i know someone may think thats the same thing but is it?

For example are you best off buying the speakers and then a seperate amp than the 5s with amp packs?

They're passive speakers with power amps attached. You need a preamp of some sort to manage volume (or a DAC with a volume control).

But bearing in mind the (really rather lovely) Neutron Vs are £400, it strikes me as good value, if that's the way you want to go. Wiring a bit of a mare though....

was thinking of them to go on my desk either side of my computer so would have easy access to mains ect

was also going to drop in the littledot mkiii as my pre amp - sure the tubes will really help them sing and add spaces and warmth to my digital music collection
