AV Receiver Vs Intagrated Stereo Amp.....

I was wondering if anyone could tell me the performance for music listening on AV receivers vs stereo Amps ? And how much would you have to spend on an AV amp to get the same quality in stereo mode as a £500 stereo amp...?

About £1500. I think a lot also depends upon your ears, your experience of decent 2Ch stuff, what front speakers you are going to use, etc etc. I would be looking around that figure though.

General consensus seems to be that a stereo amp the third of the value of an A/V receiver/amp will have a similar stereo performance!

So you'll need to spend more than £1500 on an A/V ampto better a £500 stereo amp.

Yep, I'd go with that figure too. A rather crude way of thinking about it is £'s per channel - £500 stereo = £250 per channel, which indeed near enough equates to that figure for 7 channels on the AV amp...
