AV Amp effect on PQ through HDMI?

I'd be interested to know what the expert views are on the effect on PQ when sending the picture signal via HDMI through an AV amp compared to sending it direct to your TV.

Obviously, the purpose of an AV amp in a home cinema setup is to produce surround sound. You would think however, that purely in relation to PQ, sending the signal through all those electronics in an amp would have an adverse effect on PQ compared to sending it direct.

Enlighten me please.

Shouldn't have any effect, as the amp will have a repeater, and will 'rebroadcast' the signal to the display. If you have long runs of cable you may even find the picture quality is better!

It's irrelevant anyway, if you want HD Audio you HAVE to send the HDMI to the amp, unless you have a Blu-Ray player with two HDMI outputs.

My question related to PQ only and therefore is relevant.

Thanks Andrew for your quick reply. I'm reassured now that there's no detriment to PQ.

There shouldn't be, although some Yamaha amps 'clipped' RGB. It was fixed on some models but left on others but as far as I know the current models are not affected.
