Av Amp does not sound right

I am not sure if this is something i am missing but the sound from my Denon AVR4308 does not seem right. The general voices seem to be very quiet where as the other sound effects seem to be very loud, it seems to be more noticeable when playing a dvd through my Denon 1940. Does anybody have any ideas.

Have you set the speaker settings and levels on the amp?

i used the auto setup room eq

After using the auto setup you can adjust db for all speakers, just go into the menu and increase the db for the centre and decrease the db for fronts and sub etc until you get the right balance.

I had the same isssue with my 4308 after running the auto setup, although I found it showed up more on some dvds than others. Very easy to manually boost the center speaker though and reduce the front L&R as the other poster suggested.
