Hi,

I was wondering if an av amp would offer the same quality of sound compared to a dedicated hifi amp.

I have the Yamaha v371 and gales 3010s front and rar,and a kef centre.

Richer sounds have a denon cd player for a £100.

Thanks all

For the same money, probably not.

But that's no reason why it can't sound very good. You'll hear some nonsense about having to buy a stereo amp to anjoy the music.

+1 for good sense. I have a CDP running through my AV amp and it sounds very good, Better to me in some ways than the stereo amp I had before. If you have an AV amp though, don't you also have a DVD or Bluray, why not use that to play the CDs, you might find it hard to hear an improvement from a dedicated CD player at the budget end of the market, will they let you demo the player before purchase?

A friend of mine has some Gales, no idea what, but I have to say they're the EDITEDtest speakers I've ever heard, so I doubt any change in amp would make a difference. Of course it might be the way he has them set up, fronts 15 feet apart and the centre speaker on his rack. Behind him. Might have something to do with it...

EDIT: Ok, I'll do the swear filter's work for it...

With the new AV's on the market you would have to have a pretty good reason to buy an additional Amp. Personally I listen to all my Music through my Pioneer, the source is my PC (using Lossless sound) It sounds fantastic.

There is no denying that music through an amp will sound better. But I dont think you should be spending 1k on an AMP for a £100 CD player :)
