Using MacBook Pro USB output Audiolab CDQ would a external DAC be worth adding listen to Tidal mainly

Well I don´t think so.Besides differences in Dacs are subtle with the audiolab CDQ you have 7 filters to select.IMO chances are more than low to be satisfied with an other dac if you are not with your current setup.I would look somewhere else if something won´t do it for you.

Personally I'd sell the CDQ and replace it with an M-DAC which is far more versatile and has a lovely headphone pre-amp.

I just committed to a Tidal HIFI subscription and am loving it! Sounds amazing through the M-DAC.
