Audiolab 8200CD - is it a DAC and a CD player?

And if it is a DAC as well, how good is it?

How would the DAC element of this CD player sound against the Dacmagic, rDAC or MF M1?

For the price it seems great value or am I missing something (as usual)?

Yes, it's a CD player with digital inputs, and with a very high-quality DAC onboard. It's just been reviewed for a forthcoming issue of Gramophone, both as a player and as a DAC, and if anything it's even more impressive as a DAC.

Thanks Andrew. At least I wasn't being completely dumb. I see you gave it the top CD player award in the Awards issue.

Can you (or anyone) shed light on the DAC's relative performance against those DAC's I previously listed.

There is nowhere within 100 miles that I could compare them myself.
