Hi I have a benq w1070 projector. Firestick plugs straight into projector.
Currently it’s linked to my av denon receiver via a simple 3.5mm jack out projector to phono. This gives me sound through the receiver to speakers but it’s not surround , as it’s not stereo.
I bought a hdmi repeater which I believe will convert the 3.5mm signal to stereo before it enters the receiver. Not tried it yet.
Will this work?
Also would it work if I plugged an Xbox into the projector via hdmi then optical out from Xbox into receiver .
Not sure if the Firestick could plug into the Xbox then though? Thanks for any advice guys

What Denon AV receiver do you have?

It’s typically much easier to connect everything to the receiver and then run a HDMI cable from it to the projector.

This will sort out your audio concerns.

Ah ok.

What XBox do you use?

As far as the 3.5mm connection is concerned I would expect this to be stereo. (Cannot be 100% sure). Are you sure you have a stereo lead? (Need to check how many rings the 3.5mm connector has. Mono has 1 and stereo has 2). The stereo signal would also only give you a pseudo surround sound.

As for the XBox, you should be able to connect via HDMI and output sound via optical. May need to adjust the settings to do this. Going this route would give you ‘proper’ surround sound albeit only some of the formats (like Dolby Digital and DTS).

Do you have a surround sound speaker set up?
