audio codec needed , windows media player

hi , not sure if this is the right place for this question , but here goes , when using windows media player , watching hd movies downloaded from the net , i get no sound , i have a coreavc codec installed on my laptop , the picture is fine , an error message says i need an audio codec , when i download the suggested one ( suggested by windows ) i have sound but freezing picture , as if the corecodec is not working , vlc player , media player classic and other players wont work for me ( i have vista ) any help would be great ?

You need the CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack) from that website.

ive downloaded most codecs that were available guys , nothing works , thanks for trying to help , im sure its an easy fix , but im not great with this stuff , ive uninstalled all the codecs i have , am running vista 32 bit , am going to reinstall the coreavc and start again , not too hopeful , i have an nvidia 8200m g graphics card on the laptop , i wonder if that might need checking out ? ta...
